A review of the current trends in educational attainment and employment opportunities including wage earnings was reviewed. Best practices in high school to college including tech prep programs for special populations was highlighted. |
 | The STEM Equity Pipeline The National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity Education Foundation recently received a National Science Foundation Grant to increase the capacity of professional development providers working with STEM Career Cluster teachers to increase the participation of women and girls in these programs. This session highlighted the implementation of this project and informed participants of other STEM initiatives currently underway nationally and in North Carolina. |
 | Clusters/Pathways - Taking the Mystery Out of Career Clusters This session will provided participants with an overview of the National Career Clusters and Pathways Initiative as a national framework for organizing career and technical education and the careers students are prepared for in these programs. Participants explored the similarities between the 10 North Carolina Career Pathways and the 16 Career Clusters and discussed ways the two can be integrated to meet national accountability requirements and the needs of North Carolina students. |

 | Increasing the Diversity of the Future STEM Workforce Project Lead The Way (PLTW) and the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity have partnered with the National Academies of Engineering to increase the participation of girls and minorities in PLTW programs across the county. The Engineering Equity Extension Service initiative, funded by the National Science Foundation, will be reviewed and the resources available to you as a teacher shared. Recruitment strategies, materials, and future professional development opportunities are part of the many valuable resources you will receive. This session will provide some "nuts and bolts" strategies for ensuring a successful STEM effort. Everything from marketing your initiative, to facilitating successful student transitions will be shared. |
